Loading Your PODS. Unloading It Too.
Whether your PODS just arrived and needs to be filled, or it was delivered to your new home and needs to come out, we handle both ends.
A lot of people load their own container and regret it. Furniture does not fit the way they expected, boxes shift and crush each other during transit, and the container runs out of space before everything is in. On the unloading side, people pull things out without a plan and end up with furniture staged in the wrong rooms and no one to help reassemble anything.
Our crew loads PODS containers strategically and unloads them with the same care. On the loading side, heavy pieces go in first against the walls, boxes stack floor to ceiling, and gaps get filled so nothing shifts. On the unloading side, furniture comes out and goes directly to the room it belongs in, not piled in the garage for you to sort through later.
Every job includes moving blankets, shrink wrap, tape, and crew tools at no extra charge, plus up to 2 TV boxes and 5 wardrobe boxes for use during the job. These materials stay with the crew and do not remain inside the container. If you want packing supplies that stay with your belongings inside the PODS, that is our paid packing service, quoted upfront.
Billing is hourly with a minimum, prorated in 15-minute increments. A $100 non-refundable deposit holds your date and applies to the final invoice. Licensed under Cal-T201700 with full cargo and liability insurance.
Loading Your PODS
How a container gets loaded determines whether your furniture arrives scratched, whether boxes get crushed, and whether you end up paying for a second container because the first one ran out of space.
Our crew wraps every piece of furniture in moving blankets and shrink wrap before it goes in. Heavy furniture and appliances go first against the back wall. Boxes stack in columns from floor to ceiling with the heaviest on the bottom. Soft items fill the gaps. The goal is one container, loaded tight enough that nothing moves in transit and everything that needs to fit actually does.
Know your pickup window before you book. PODS schedules specific pickup times. If the container is not loaded when the driver arrives, you may be charged for a rescheduled pickup. We plan crew arrival time around your window so there is no scramble at the end.
Appliances need to be ready before we arrive. Refrigerators and freezers must be fully unplugged, drained, and dried. Washers need water lines disconnected. Our crew moves and wraps appliances but does not disconnect or reconnect water, gas, or electrical lines.
Everything going into the PODS should be accounted for in your estimate call. Garages, closets, and storage areas that come up on move day add time that was not in the original quote.
Unloading Your PODS
When your PODS arrives at the destination, you need everything out and into the right place. A lot of people pull items out themselves and end up with furniture in the wrong rooms, boxes stacked in the living room, and no one to reassemble the bed frame.
Our crew unloads the container, carries everything to the correct room, and reassembles standard furniture as part of the hourly rate. You do not have to direct every piece or do any of the heavy lifting.
Have a rough idea of where things are going before the crew arrives. You do not need a precise floor plan, but knowing which bedroom the beds go in and where the couch should land speeds up the unload significantly. The crew can place everything correctly the first time instead of moving things twice.
Check parking and access at your destination before the crew arrives. In San Francisco and parts of Oakland and Berkeley, parking a large vehicle near your home requires planning. Knowing where the crew can park close to your front door saves time on every trip.
We Also Load and Unload U-Pack, 1-800-PACK-RAT, and Zippy Shell
The process is the same regardless of which portable container company you used. U-Pack ReloCubes, 1-800-PACK-RAT containers, and Zippy Shell all get the same approach. If your container brand is not listed here, call us and we will confirm.
PODS Loading and Unloading Across the Bay Area
In Oakland, we load and unload containers parked in driveways, apartment lots, and street-side drop zones. Renters between leases use this regularly for both ends of the move.
In Berkeley, PODS volume picks up heavily in May and August when students and academic renters move out and back in. Tight streets near campus require planning container placement before the crew arrives.
In Concord, we handle both loading at the origin and unloading when the container arrives at the destination for customers moving across the East Bay.
In San Francisco, street parking restrictions limit how long a PODS can sit. Some neighborhoods require a permit for container placement. Professional loading and unloading gets both ends done within the allowed window.
Before hiring anyone for container work, verify their California moving license through BHGS. Our license number is Cal-T201700. Read more on the California moving consumer rights page from BHGS.
