Some items are too large for a standard delivery crew but do not quite fit the specialty-equipment category either. Large sectional sofas, king platform beds, oversized armoires, entertainment centers, and modular shelving units all fall into this zone. They are not impossible to move, but they require more planning, more hands, and more experience than most people expect.

Before move day, we ask about your item dimensions, doorway widths, stairway layout, and any tight turns in the hallway. We show up with moving blankets, shrink wrap, door frame protectors, floor runners, and furniture dollies. If the piece needs partial disassembly to clear a doorway, we bring the tools and hardware bags. If doors need to come off the hinges, we handle that too.

If you have something unusually heavy or outside the scope of typical household furniture, call us and describe it. We would rather give you an honest answer upfront than show up underprepared.

Our crews do not disconnect or reconnect TVs, wall mounts, appliances, or anything plumbed, gas-lined, or hard-wired. Please have a licensed professional handle that before we arrive.

Oversized item moves are billed hourly with a minimum, prorated in 15-minute increments after that. California double drive time applies between pickup and delivery as required by state regulation. A $100 non-refundable deposit secures your date and applies to the final invoice. Licensed under Cal-T201700 with basic liability at $0.60 per pound. Third-party coverage is available for high-value pieces.

2. We plan and execute. The crew arrives with the right equipment for your specific item. We measure access points on site, protect floors and walls, and move the piece using the safest approach, whether that means angling it through, taking doors off hinges, or disassembling it first.

3. Item placed, home protected. We set the item exactly where you want it, reassemble anything we took apart, and keep floors, walls, and banisters protected throughout the move.

Measuring Before the Crew Arrives

The most common mistake with oversized items is assuming something will fit without measuring. A few things worth checking before you book:

Measure every access point, not just the front door. The front door might clear, but the turn into the hallway might not. Measure door widths, hallway widths at the tightest point, stairwell widths, and the doorway into the destination room. Standard interior doors are 32 inches, but many older Bay Area homes are narrower.

Account for the item at its widest point, not just its depth. A sectional carried on its side is wider than it looks. A tall armoire that cannot be tilted needs full ceiling clearance on every stairway landing.

Oversized Item Moving Across the Bay Area

In Oakland, Victorian and Craftsman homes come with narrow hallways, doorways as tight as 28 inches, and L-shaped staircases that turn oversized furniture into a real puzzle. These are everyday situations for our crews.
