Getting Furniture Where It Needs to Go

You bought something that will not fit in your car. A sectional from Marketplace, a dining table from Craigslist, a dresser from a furniture store down the street. The item is ready. You just need a truck and two people who know how to move it without damaging it or your walls.

Our crew shows up with a box truck, moving blankets, ratchet straps, and a dolly. We wrap your item before it goes on the truck, strap it down for transport, and carry it inside your home to the exact room you choose. Upstairs, downstairs, narrow hallway, it does not matter. We handle it with the right equipment and the experience to do it without incident.

This is not threshold delivery. We do not leave your furniture on the sidewalk or in a building lobby. We carry it in, place it where you want it, and leave.

Most standard single-item deliveries are quoted at a flat rate. Heavier or oversized items, multi-person lifts, tight access, or stair carries with heavy loads move to hourly pricing with a minimum. If you are not sure which category your job falls into, call us and describe the item and we will tell you.

A $100 non-refundable deposit secures your date and applies to the final invoice. Licensed under Cal-T201700 with basic liability at $0.60 per pound. Third-party coverage is available for high-value pieces.

A note on appliances: our crews do not disconnect or reconnect refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, TVs, or anything with plumbing, gas, or wall-mount connections. Have those handled by a licensed professional before we arrive.

How Furniture Delivery Works

  1. Tell us what and where. Call (510) 495-1884 or fill out our online form. Let us know what you need picked up, where it is, and where it is going. A photo of the item helps us bring the right equipment and give you an accurate quote.

  2. We pick it up. The crew arrives at the seller's home, the store, or the warehouse on time. We wrap the item in moving blankets, load it onto the truck, and transport it to your home.

  3. Delivered and placed. We carry your furniture inside, up any stairs, and set it in the room you choose. No curbside drop-off. Inside your home, exactly where you want it.

Marketplace and Craigslist Pickups

Buying furniture from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist is one of the most common reasons people call us. The price is right but there is no way to get it home.

Tell the seller you will send a professional pickup crew. Give us the seller's address, your address, and a photo of the item. We handle the rest. We pick it up, wrap it, load it, and deliver it inside your home. We do Marketplace pickups across Oakland, Berkeley, and San Francisco every week and the seller does not need to do anything except be available during the pickup window.

IKEA and Furniture Store Pickups

Our Richmond base is about 10 minutes from the IKEA Emeryville store. If you buy your items in the store and want same-day delivery without the retail shipping fee or the two-week wait, we can pick everything up and bring it to your home the same afternoon. We also pick up from West Elm, CB2, and other furniture stores along the Powell Street corridor in Emeryville.

For IKEA specifically, flat-pack boxes are straightforward to load. If you also need the furniture assembled after delivery, mention that when you call and we can factor it into the quote.

Why a Licensed Crew Matters for Furniture Delivery

Gig apps like Dolly, GoShare, and TaskRabbit are popular for furniture delivery. They are also where most damage complaints come from. Gig workers show up in personal vehicles with no moving blankets, no professional equipment, and no California moving license. If your dresser gets dropped on the stairs, your only recourse is an app support ticket.

California law requires anyone transporting household goods for pay to hold a valid moving license. Many gig platforms operate as delivery services specifically to avoid that requirement, which means no formal oversight and limited accountability if something goes wrong.

JH Moving is a licensed moving company. We carry California moving license Cal-T201700, which you can verify through the California moving consumer rights page from BHGS. Our crews are trained, our trucks are equipped, and we answer the phone when you call.

Furniture Delivery Across the Bay Area

In Oakland, Marketplace and Craigslist transactions keep our crews busy year-round. Victorian and Craftsman homes have narrow staircases and tight hallways that make professional delivery a necessity, not a luxury.

In Berkeley, constant furniture turnover from students, renters, and faculty drives steady demand. Older apartment buildings rarely have elevators and dense street parking limits where a truck can stage. Our crews plan around both.

In San Francisco, steep stairways, elevator buildings, and parking restrictions make self-transport nearly impossible. Buyers routinely purchase furniture across the Bay and need a truck and crew to get it home. We coordinate bridge traffic into every SF delivery schedule.

In Emeryville, the IKEA store and furniture showrooms along Powell Street generate same-day pickup demand all week. Our Richmond base puts us 10 minutes away.
